Meet the Team!

Hello! My name is Gracie and I am one of your 2026 Sustainability Captains!   I joined the Sustainability Team in Year 9 after completing the Zoos Victoria Youth Leadership program, which is a program about conservation and how to improve leadership skills alongside practical learning. It was an amazing experience and I’d recommend it to any students in Years 9 &10! I have always had a passion for animals, the environment and helping people which is why I joined Sustainability team. PS. - my favourite chocolate is Reece’s Pieces and would be much appreciated!

Hi, my name is Ella, one of the Sustainability Captains for 2026.

I’ve always had a passion for conservation and the natural world. Joining the Sustainability Club in Year 9 allowed me to help improve our local environment, and be a part of a community dedicated to a broader cause. I have participated in multiple programs and conferences with like-minded people and am constantly looking to improve my skills and abilities in leadership.

Our Joint Statement :)

In these roles we have accomplished many things like achieving the Resource Smart School award in 2025 and we’ve broadened our network of sustainability leaders. This year we are looking to obtain both our electricity star and water star before Resource Smart is disbanded. We firmly believe that recognition for schools making a change for the better, both secondary and primary, is very important for raising awareness and educating young minds in the stability of our planet. We will continue our work even though our efforts may not be seen by the Government, for the bigger picture.

Eastern Alliance for Sustainability Learning Conference 2026

We are delighted to celebrate Anastasia L., who was invited to represent our school as a panel speaker at the EASL Learning for Sustainability Conference 2026. Anastasia spoke with remarkable passion and eloquence, leaving a strong impression on attendees. The conference coordinator shared that she was “simply amazing” and that the student panel received overwhelmingly positive feedback. We are incredibly proud of Anastasia for her outstanding contribution and for representing our school community so brilliantly. Here’s what Anastasia had to say about the event:

The Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning (EASL) is a conference targeted for primary schools, secondary schools and early years schools.  It is made up of seven local councils in Melbourne’s east. It was formed in 2011 to support environmental sustainability in schools. This year it was held at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. I was invited to be a part of the student panel. I was on the panel with two other kids from different schools, a girl in Year 10 and a boy in Year 12. While on the panel I was asked about what sparked my interest in sustainability and some of the things we have done around the school. After we asked those question the audience got to ask us some. It was very interesting to meet and talk with like-minded people.

Container Deposit Scheme

Our CDS collections are taking off! We collected around 800 eligible containers over the last term. This means 800 plastic bottles and cans kept out of landfill! It would be really great if we could get to 1000 by our next count! So please remember to put your empty, eligible cans, bottles and juice boxes in the blue bins you see around the school, and not on the ground or in the ordinary general waste bins. Please do not put general waste into these bins as they are not emptied regularly.

The Future We Imagine – Yarra Ranges 2035

We are proud to share that two of our talented students, Breanna T. and Arabella B., have their artwork featured in the The Future We Imagine – Yarra Ranges 2035 exhibition, a creative showcase exploring young people’s visions for a climate-resilient future. Held at the Yarra Ranges Civic Centre, this inspiring exhibition brings together student voices from across the region and celebrates creativity, curiosity and hope for the future. We warmly invite our school community to visit, support our students, read their artists’ statements and experience their amazing artwork on display. Dates and times to view are available on the Council website, but here’s a sneak peek:
