Year 10 Debating Team shine through

Year 10 Debating Team Continues Strong Start to 2026

Cecil Hills High School is proud to celebrate another outstanding achievement by our Year 10 Debating Team, who secured a convincing victory in Round 2 of the 2026 Premier's Debating Challenge on Monday 22 June.

Competing against Casula High School, our students argued the affirmative position on the topic: "That parents should be banned from posting photos and videos of children on social media." The debate was highly competitive, with both teams presenting thoughtful and well-researched arguments. Our students demonstrated excellent critical thinking, confidence, teamwork and public speaking skills throughout the debate.

After a closely contested debate, Cecil Hills High School was awarded the win, continuing a strong start to the competition.

Congratulations to our talented team members:

  • 1st Speaker: Elise Carroll
  • 2nd Speaker: Alma Shiltagh
  • 3rd Speaker: Brooklyn Touche
  • 4th Speaker: Angela Tran
  • Chairpersons: Isabella Cardarello and Mia Cardarello

The team should be commended for the dedication, preparation and intellectual courage they demonstrated in presenting and defending their arguments. Debating provides students with valuable opportunities to develop their communication, reasoning and leadership skills, and our students represented Cecil Hills High School with distinction.

We look forward to following their progress throughout the remainder of the Premier's Debating Challenge and wish them every success in the upcoming rounds.
