Principal's Address

Dear Parents, Carers, and Community Members,
As we conclude a busy 11-week term, I want to acknowledge the tremendous work our teachers are doing in their classrooms, with explicit teaching and a strong focus on student growth remaining at the heart of everything we do. Term 2 has been filled with many achievements across the school community, including outstanding results on the sports field, success in debating, the exciting commencement of our Duke of Edinburgh program, and the deepening of our partnerships with local primary schools—highlighted by the recent HPGE mathematics visit. I also want to sincerely thank our families for their ongoing support with attendance; we are proud to report that attendance rates are now at their highest levels since returning from COVID interruptions.
NAIDOC Week Celebrations
This year’s NAIDOC Week event was a truly special time at our school, showcasing the rich cultures and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our students, staff and community led vibrant and meaningful activities that celebrated Indigenous culture and promoted understanding and respect across our community. These celebrations are vital in fostering reconciliation and appreciation within our school community, and I thank everyone who contributed to making them so memorable.
Thank You for Your Engagement
I want to thank our families for your enthusiastic participation in our recent Parent Teacher Evenings and Subject Selection Night. Your involvement plays a crucial role in supporting your child’s education and wellbeing. Strong partnerships between school and home allow us to work together to maximise every student’s success and wellbeing. We look forward to continuing this collaboration throughout the year.
Mobile Phone Policy Reminder
Please be reminded of the NSW Department of Education’s ban on mobile phone use during school hours. This measure helps maintain a focused and safe learning environment for all students. I encourage you to refer to my recent email correspondence for detailed information regarding this policy. Your support in reinforcing this rule at home is greatly appreciated.
Staffing Update
At the start of Term 3, Mrs Carter will be relieving as Deputy Principal for Year 9 and our Inclusive Education students while Ms Sahid is on leave. Additionally, Ms Wicks will be relieving as Deputy Principal for Year 8 and 12 for Mrs Cremin until Week 3. We thank all staff members for their flexibility and commitment in supporting our school community during these times.
Support for Year 12 Students
To our Year 12 students and their families, I wish you all the very best as you prepare for the trial HSC examinations commencing in Week 3 next term. I also want to recognise the commitment and hard work of our teachers, many of whom will be designing and presenting holiday study sessions for our students.
Lastly, I wish all members of our community a safe and restful holiday break.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Regards,
Andrew King
Principal
