Junior School Council

In Junior School Council, we were shocked to learn that batteries are having an increasingly negative impact on our environment. Battery recycling is very important because it helps keep our planet clean and safe. When we throw old batteries in the bin, they can go to landfill and leak nasty chemicals into the ground and water. This can hurt animals, plants, and even people. By recycling batteries, we can reuse the materials inside them like metal, which saves resources and energy. At Tarneit Rise, we are encouraging families to bring their old batteries into school so that they can be recycled properly to reduce the environmental harm our school community causes. Batteries are collected in each class and then taken to the STEM room where they are properly sorted for recycling. There are prizes to be won for the school that recycles the most batteries, so make sure you bring in your old, dead batteries today!
