Grade 6 Community News

This term, our Grade 6 students have shown impressive dedication and energy, both in the classroom and on the sporting field. Whether tackling challenging learning tasks or giving their all during sports clinics and gala days, our students have embraced every opportunity to grow, collaborate, and shine
Reading:
In our reading lessons, we’ve been diving into Boy by Roald Dahl, a fascinating autobiography that has captured our interest and sparked thoughtful discussions. Students have really enjoyed learning about the experiences that shaped this inspiring author’s life and storytelling.
Writing:
In Writing, we have been focusing on biographies. Each student selected a well-known Australian and conducted research into their life, achievements, and contributions. Using this information, students are now planning and drafting their own biographies, working hard to bring these inspiring figures to life through clear, engaging writing.
Maths:
In Maths, we’ve been developing our understanding of decimals through a range of engaging activities. Students have been practising rounding decimals, solving inverse operations, and applying their skills to addition, subtraction, and word problems. These tasks have helped strengthen both fluency and problem-solving strategies.
Next, we’ll be diving into Probability—exploring key concepts such as randomness, fairness, bias, and the difference between independent and dependent events. It’s sure to be an exciting unit that encourages critical thinking and real-world application.
Gala Day & Sports clinics:
Students who participated in the sports clinics had a fantastic time trying out a variety of sports and developing new skills. Throughout the sessions, they took part in exciting games and drills in rugby, hockey, AFL, softball, and soccer. It was a great opportunity for students to stay active, build teamwork, and have fun while learning from experienced coaches. The enthusiasm and sportsmanship on display were truly impressive!
We had a fantastic time at Gala Day, with students proudly representing our school in softball, netball, volleyball, soccer, and AFL. It was a wonderful day filled with teamwork, determination and fun! Our students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, encouraged one another and listened carefully to coaches and umpires. It was great to see everyone giving their best effort and enjoying the spirit of friendly competition. We had excellent results with the girls Netball Team and both Softball Teams making it through to the next round.
Thank you for your continued support,
