Student Excellence Program

Victorian High Ability Program (VHAP): We are now halfway through the Term 2 Victorian High-Ability Program (VHAP) for English and Mathematics, and our selected students have been doing an outstanding job engaging with the challenging and exciting content.

In English, students have been diving deep into literary analysis, exploring how authors use figurative language, characterisation, and narrative structure to convey meaning. They’ve also had opportunities to extend their own writing skills by experimenting with tone, perspective, and theme.

In Mathematics, students have been working on advanced problem-solving tasks, including algebraic reasoning, number patterns, and multi-step logic puzzles. They are developing strategies to work through complex problems while collaborating with other high-ability students across the state.

We’re incredibly proud of how our Term 2 VHAP students have represented Tarneit Rise with focus, creativity, and perseverance.

Congratulations to the students who have now been selected to participate in Term 3 VHAP!

This is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourselves, grow your thinking, and connect with like-minded learners from other schools. We look forward to seeing all that you achieve in the program next term.

The Victorian High Ability Program (VHAP) is an initiative by the Victorian Government to support high achieving students in Years 5 to 8 by providing them with advanced learning opportunities beyond the regular curriculum. This program offers online classes in Mathematics and English, allowing students to deepen their knowledge, enhance critical thinking, and engage in more complex problem-solving. VHAP is designed to challenge students and foster their academic growth, helping them develop advanced skills and confidence. Participation is by invitation, based on academic performance, cognitive ability, teacher recommendations and engagement and motivation.

Well done to all of the students who have been selected for Term 3!
