Grade 4 Community News

With the end of Term 2 creeping closer and closer, all students are still working hard in every area of their learning and should be celebrating all the achievements they have accomplished so far! Well done to you as parents as well and a big thank you from all teachers and students alike!
Reading
In Reading, we have started a new unit on The impact of Settlement where we are looking deeper into how settlement impacted on different cultures such as the Europeans, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. At the end of this unit students will have an understanding of the changes made by Settlement and how it affected not only the people but also animals and landscapes in Australia.
Writing
In Writing, we are moving towards the end of the unit and students are currently working on extending the ending of their historical narratives. They are using upgraded verbs (mental verbs), adverbs of time, place and manner, adjectives (feelings), emotive language and dialogue. It is exciting to see how students are incorporating their prior knowledge of Australian History into their writing and taking ownership of their pieces.
Maths
In Maths we have completed our unit on 2D shapes as well as the assessments. This week we will start a new unit on Data. Students will learn about data representations that can vary, depending on their purpose; evaluating graphical representations for accuracy.
Reminders:
