Physical Education News

Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome back to another action packed PE Newsletter! We’ve been hard at work getting students ready for our upcoming assessment block and have seen some awesome growth throughout all year levels.
Superstar of the week
Congratulations to our students that have progressed to the SSV Western Metro Cross Country event on the 19th July! Shout out to Gurman, Manshant, Viyona, Sophia and Kimaylah for making it through! All the best for your next run!
Preps, Grade One and Grade Two
The Preps have been focussing on their kicking and making sure that their timing was accurate and that they were taking a big step. Following on from kicking the Preps have started their two handed and one handed bounce with mini basketballs.
Grade 1s and 2s have been working on their soccer skills finishing with dribbling and using their penguin feet to get around defenders. They are now working on their single handed bounce while they are moving.
Grade 3 and Grade 4
Grade 3’s and 4’s have continued their invasion game unit with the focus switching to soccer. Students have been practising their dribbling as well as their passing to work the ball around defenders and create situations in which they have the numerical advantage.
Grade 5 and Grade 6
The grade 5’s have continued with AFL and have moved the focus from pure skills into using their skills to create scoring opportunities by using the skills that they have learnt to their advantage. We have focused on finding space and using a combination of short passes and long passes to beat opponents.
The grade 6’s have transitioned into rugby where they have been focusing on passing and finding gaps in the defence. They have also been focusing on not creating gaps in their defensive lines.
Team of the week
Team of the Week is a way to showcase students who are showing the school values in PE across all areas. These students give their best efforts and support other students around them to be the best they can be.
