Preps

What a week it has been! Our Preps had their first FULL week of school, and they handled it like champions. They were engaged, asked questions to fully understand their learning, all with big smiles on their faces. They are all settling in so well to routines and expectations. Well done Preps!

In Literacy, we now have 6 known letters under our belt. We have been exploring how to stretch words out to decode when reading and have transferred this skill into writing where we have to listen for each sound to record in our books. We have used magnetic letters, written on whiteboard and in our books to practise these skills in different ways. Students are becoming so excited when they find out that they have made a word. The smiles on their faces are priceless and the encouragement to each other in the classroom is one of pure joy to witness.

In Maths, we have consolidated counting to 10, using lots of concrete materials. We now know how to be accurate mathematicians and that double checking is always a great skill to practise. Students have looked at shape properties and what makes a shape, a shape. We have been sorting, identifying and labelling simple two-dimensional shapes.

We all participated in our first whole school event, where we celebrated all the learning we have learnt through our Start Right Program. Even though it was very hot, students had great fun watching their buddies run rotational games and interacting with other students in the school.

Our buddies projects are underway! Travis and I have enjoyed watching the collaboration between the two year levels. Stay tuned for the finishing pieces as they come to life in the next couple of weeks.
