Year 3

We were honoured to welcome Scott Darlow and his daughter Kiah to our school for a meaningful visit that shared an Indigenous perspective through music and storytelling. Through song and rhythm, they engaged students in a powerful cultural experience, with Scott using the didgeridoo to tell a story of a dog chasing a kangaroo through the beat of the music. Students had the opportunity to learn some Indigenous language such as the Murray River being called the Dhungala and a didgeridoo being known as a Yirdaki.
Students have also recently taken part in a Kids Helpline session, where they explored what makes a good friendship and practised asking open and closed questions to support positive communication.
Over the past couple of weeks, students have proudly presented their “Teach Us Something” projects, and it has been wonderful to see their growing confidence speaking in front of others while sharing topics they are passionate about, including how to play Dragon Slayer, how to make chocolate-covered strawberries, how to become a scout, and even how to do a one-handed cartwheel (which I won’t be practising any time soon).
