From the dirt under our fingernails to the stories in our heads, our students have been busy building, learning, and leading. Here is a snapshot of what we’ve been up to:
Our Kitchen Garden remains the heart of our specialist learning. Students are continuing to tend to our seasonal crops, learning the patience it takes to grow a meal from scratch.
As an aside to the 'interesting' weather we have been experiencing during gardening we have been spreading some soft fall under the play equipment which feels a little like painting a bridge, will it ever end.
One of the most heartening things to witness lately is our students stepping into the role of "teacher."
We have attempted coordinated line dancing routines, drawn funny faces, delved into The Edinburgh Military Tattoo and have a growing community of young zoologists. Our experts have been sharing tips on everything from the delicate care of lizards to the responsibilities of owning dogs and keeping our school chickens happy.
Our Year 4s have been focusing on connection through a series of team-building games. There has been plenty of laughter and problem-solving as they navigate challenges that require trust and communication.
Finally, we have officially finished both reading and watching Kensuke’s Kingdom. It’s been a moving journey following Michael’s survival on the island, and the students had some wonderful conversations comparing the imagery in the book to the film adaptation. It’s a story that will certainly stay with us for a long time.
