Dear Parents and Guardians

Last week, I had the pleasure of accompanying several of our boarding students to a tour and dinner hosted by St Catherine’s College’s Dandjoo Darbalung program.

Since 2012, Dandjoo Darbalung has supported First Nations students from across Australia by providing a safe and inclusive residential community at UWA that celebrates culture, connection and belonging.

Former Fremantle Dockers champion Michael Walters delivered an inspiring presentation, encouraging students to dream big, believe in themselves and never give up. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the evening and were excited to meet Michael and have photos taken with him afterwards.

I also had the opportunity to travel to the FeNaCl Festival in Karratha and catch up with current, former and future families. It is always heartwarming to reconnect with our Old Boys and hear their stories of life after Cebula Boarding, as well as see the excitement and anticipation of the boys and families preparing to join us for the first time.

With the Boarders’ Long Weekend taking place next week, many of the boys are looking forward to spending time at home with their families, while others plan to remain in Perth with their local guardians. We wish them all a restful break and look forward to welcoming them back to campus from 3.00 pm on Monday 24 August.
