Good Works Kitchen Program

Last week, a group of Young Vinnies participated in the Good Works Kitchen Program. This service-learning initiative enables students to prepare nutritious meals in the UBean Kitchen for people experiencing homelessness at Tom Fisher House in Perth.

The first dish on the menu this term was Three-Cheese Macaroni Cheese, prepared with skill and passion by our four Vinnies chefs. The boys cooked five large trays of pasta with an incredible cheese sauce, and Ms Otway-Melvin kindly delivered the meals the following day.

Tom Fisher House Coordinator Ben Johnstone was thrilled with the meals and said the clients had thoroughly enjoyed them and were grateful for the support.

The Good Works Kitchen Program is the first initiative of its kind at the College. Through the program, we hope to provide meaningful, hands-on support within the community while helping students deepen their understanding of social justice and compassion. It also gives them an opportunity to reflect on social inequalities and ethical responsibilities within a structured and fully supportive environment.

Quiz Night

Save the date! On Friday 4 September 2026, the Young Vinnies will host a Quiz Night to end all quiz nights!

The amazing Mr Alexander will be our magnificent MC and promises to make the evening as entertaining as ever. With a great mix of questions, reels and brain teasers, the night is sure to challenge even the most experienced quizzers.
