Do you have a child who is curious about coding, enjoys logical thinking, and thrives on solving engaging, real-world problems? The Victorian Coding Challenge is designed for students with a creative yet analytical mindset. It provides a rich opportunity to extend problem-solving, reasoning, and computational thinking through tasks that embed mathematics in meaningful ways.

Please contact Mrs Dennis via email if your child is interested in participating in this competition before 10th May. Participation will be during STEAM club (lunch club) and entry is free. Students can also work on this project at home. Each student will receive a virtual coding kit comprising of 8 modules featuring a range of coding challenges.
Kids In Space
We are pleased to announce that HEPS were selected to participate in the Kids in space program that is co-ordinated by The Andy Thomas Space Foundation (ATSF) and Makers Empire.
Kids in Space is a sponsored space education program that offers both educators and learners real-world learning opportunities and exciting access to Australia’s growing space industry.
The program is designed to encourage students to engage with design challenges using 3D design and printing relating to the space industry, the program introduces learners to space technology and sparks curiosity about career opportunities within the field.
We look forward to sharing our progress and designs throughout the year.
Home Learning Opportunity
To celebrate Code Club Australia's 10th birthday, students are invited to have a go at creating a fun Party Pinata project using Scratch. The aim of the project is create a pinata that will swing and release treats when it is hit, eventually showing a happy birthday message. This is suitable for grades 3-6, but if your child is younger and feeling confident with Scratch, have a go! You can find the link here.
