We look forward to working together to support the ongoing success of Heathmont East Primary School.
As part of our ongoing effort to build understanding of the role of School Council and support open, two‑way communication with our school community, we will be including a School Council Update in the newsletter periodically.
At our recent meeting, the following key decisions were endorsed by School Council:
- Soccer X contract – School Council decided not to extend the current Soccer X contract for operational reasons.
- Art room refurbishment – Funding was approved to undertake works to update and refurbish the art room, supporting improved learning spaces for our students.
Looking ahead, School Council is hopeful for the outcome of the upcoming State Budget announcement next Tuesday, which includes potential funding for new classroom facilities as part of the next stage of our school’s master plan. Should funding be confirmed, this would be an exciting step forward for our school community.
In parallel, planning has commenced for a new playground, to be located in the space currently occupied by the former administration and classroom buildings. We are hopeful that demolition of these buildings will take place during the upcoming school holidays, allowing this space to be opened up for future use.
We would also like to share the different ways families can raise questions, provide feedback, or seek further information about school or School Council matters:
- School leadership and administration, via the school office
School Council correspondence, via the School Council email address:
4819-schoolcouncil@schools.vic.edu.au
- Direct correspondence to the School Council President, via Matt.McKean@education.vic.gov.au
We welcome thoughtful and respectful engagement and value the strong partnership between families, staff, and School Council.
Thank you for your continued support of our school community.
Kind regards,
Matt McKean
President, School Council
