Year 3 News

Our second week back was very jam packed!
As members of a faith community, we learnt about the four parts of Mass (We Gather, We Listen, We Give Thanks, We Go). Students sequenced the various parts of the Mass using their prior knowledge before reading and learning about each part in depth. We showed our thinking by placing the events in order and added images to help us visualise.
On Friday we celebrated Grandparents Day. Thank you to all the Grandparents who came and supported their grandchildren at whole school Mass and various activities in our learning spaces.
As readers and writers, we have begun investigating information texts. We have learnt that these texts are to teach and inform the reader about a topic and are written using headings, subheadings, topic vocabulary, varied sentences, pictures with captions and accurate facts.
As mathematicians, we are learning how to solve multiplication and division problems using the CUBES strategy.
C - Circle the important numbers
U - Underline the question
B - Box the key words
E - Evaluate the problem and decide what operation to use
S - Solve and check
This process has helped us to efficiently solve worded problems!
