German Poetry Competition
Congratulations to our Year 7 students who took part in this year's German Poetry Competition! It was fantastic to see such strong representation from Box Hill High School, with students reciting their chosen poems in front of judges and fellow language learners.
Congratulations to Yuuki K, Ruby S, and Isabella B!
The competition brought together students from Box Hill High School, Brentwood Secondary College and Mount Waverley Secondary College for a wonderful afternoon of language, culture and poetry.
Students were judged on their pronunciation and intonation, diction and phrasing, as well their interpretation of the mood and meaning of their poems. Certainly no small feat when performing entirely in German and without props!
Well done to all involved, and thank you to the staff and students from Brentwood for hosting this year’s competition! We are fortunate to have such wonderful partner schools in our area and look forward to hosting the day at BHHS again in 2028!
A Taste of Germany
Year 10 and 11 Students recently headed into the city to make the most of the Melbourne International Film Festival!
Students watched Ab morgen bin ich mutig at ACMI and spent the walk to our next destination, the Hofbräuhaus, in heavy debate about the film’s ending!
A classic German lunch of Schnitzel or Spätzle was then completed with a piece of black forest cake or Apfelstrudel.
A big thank you to our phenomenal German teachers for organising the day and offering the opportunity to experience German both on the big screen and dining table!
