Connecting Cultures, Shaping Our Future 

On 20th of August, our Year 9 Chinese students explored NGV Australia, NGV International and Melbourne Central. 

At the NGV, students journeyed through 65,000 years of First Nations history, explored modern Melbourne, and compared First Nations and Chinese artworks and cultures. 

A highlight was a vivid painting of Melbourne in 1861. It invited students to look back, look around and look ahead: to appreciate the land cared for by First Nations Peoples, to see how generations have shaped the Melbourne we know today, and to ask, how will we help shape the Melbourne of tomorrow? 

Students then headed to Melbourne Central to create Mandarin Vlogs, introducing their favourite clothing stores and delicious Chinese food.

Bringing together culture, history, art, technology and real-world Mandarin, it was a meaningful learning experience - and a fun day in the city!
