Year 10 News

Mr Barrett

Year 10 Leader of Learning

We have finally reached our peak of Term 2: Work Experience Week! We have worked hard to build the experience of our students as part of our Unit 1 VCE Industry and Enterprise.

Students have been able to try before they buy in an industry of their choosing, experiencing the rigours of full-time work. From our workplace visits by our Year 10 staff, students have recognised their skills being developed and where they are in their journey towards their pathway. Thank you to our Pathways team, Year level team, Year 10 staff (especially STEP teachers) and of course, the families of our students – a lot of whom did some work in creating connections to help establish our students’ work experience.

For the students who missed out on Work Experience week, we had an alternative program running at school, and we had another group of students organise their work experience for the next few weeks.

VCE Subject Selection – Early Term 3

As we move into Term 3, Year 10 students will begin the important process of selecting their VCE pathway and subjects for 2027. To support students and families in making informed decisions, several key events have been scheduled.

Year 10 Information Evening – Senior School Pathways

Tuesday 14 July, 6:00 pm – College Theatre

This evening has been advertised via Compass and is designed to ensure that students and parents/carers receive the same information about senior school pathways, VCE subject options, and future planning. We aim to help every student make informed decisions that best suit their interests, strengths, and aspirations.

Interpreters will be available to support families attending the event.

VCE Subject Expo

Week 1, Term 3

The VCE Subject Expo provides students with an opportunity to explore the wide range of subjects available at Cranbourne Secondary College. Through their STEP classes, students have already nominated the subjects they would like to preview, allowing them to gain valuable insight into course content, expectations, and future opportunities.

Year 10 into 11 Course Selection Interviews

Tuesday 28 July

Students and their parents/carers will participate in an interview-style course counselling session with a member of the College leadership team. These conversations are designed to support students in selecting a program that aligns with their goals and future pathway plans.

Interpreters will be available throughout the day.

We look forward to partnering with families and supporting our students as they navigate these important decisions and prepare for the next stage of their educational journey.
