Year 8 News

Ms Lanza

Year 8 Leader of Learning

Over the past few weeks, our Year 8 students had the opportunity to attend the highly anticipated Year 8 Camp at Phillip Island, and what an incredible experience it was.

Over three action-packed days, students participated in a range of exciting activities, including canoeing, raft making, high ropes, initiative challenges, bushman’s breakfast activities, beach walks, team-building experiences, a campfire, and movie night. Throughout each activity, students were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, challenge themselves, and support one another.

One of the most rewarding aspects of camp was watching students develop new friendships and strengthen existing ones. Students worked together to solve problems, overcome challenges, and encourage one another through activities that required resilience, teamwork, communication, and leadership. It was wonderful to see students connecting with peers outside of their usual friendship groups and embracing the opportunity to build a stronger Year 8 community.

Many students achieved things they never thought possible. Whether it was conquering the high ropes course, navigating the water during canoeing activities, participating in group challenges, or simply spending time away from home and developing greater independence, students demonstrated courage, persistence, and a willingness to have a go.

Camp also provided countless opportunities for fun, laughter, and memorable experiences. From beach activities and evening campfires to shared meals and recreational time with friends, students created memories that will stay with them long after Year 8.

Most importantly, our students represented Cranbourne Secondary College exceptionally well throughout the camp. Staff were incredibly proud of the way students conducted themselves, supported one another, and embraced every opportunity presented to them. Their positive attitude, resilience, and willingness to participate contributed significantly to the success of the camp.

A special thank you must also be extended to the dedicated staff who attended and supported the camp. Their commitment, enthusiasm, and willingness to give up time away from their own families ensured that students were able to enjoy such a positive and rewarding experience.

Year 8 Camp was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the year so far, and we look forward to seeing students continue to build upon the confidence, friendships, and positive memories developed throughout the experience.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 8 students and look forward to celebrating more successes with them throughout the remainder of the year.

Celebrating student success

Following camp, we came together at our Year 8 Assembly to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of students throughout the semester.

Throughout the term, students have continued to demonstrate excellence in attendance, academic achievement, effort, and positive contributions to our school community. During the assembly, we recognised students for their outstanding attendance, academic performance, GPA achievement, and the positive contributions they make to classrooms across the year level.

It is always fantastic to see students recognised for their hard work and commitment to learning. We congratulate all students who received awards and acknowledgements and thank them for the positive example they set for their peers.

The Year 8 team is incredibly proud of the growth, resilience, and effort being demonstrated across the cohort, and we look forward to celebrating many more successes throughout the remainder of the year.
