What is Wear It Purple Day?

Friday 28 August is an annual day of celebration and awareness that supports LGBTQIA+ young people and promotes inclusion, acceptance and belonging.

Why is it important to celebrate?

Recognising Wear It Purple Day is an important way to show students that they are valued, respected and supported for who they are. It encourages kindness, challenges discrimination and helps create a safe and inclusive school community where every student feels that they belong.

What is GSC doing to celebrate Wear It Purple Day?

On Friday 28 August, we will be hosting a casual clothes day (gold coin donation).

This year’s theme is Colours of Courage. We invite students to share what courage, inclusion and being yourself mean to you through artwork, a piece of writing, a drawing, a photograph or any other creative expression.

Student contributions will be displayed outside the library, where we will also have cupcakes and cookies for sale. And, of course, we can’t forget our yearly iconic Photo Booth!

We look forward to coming together as a school community to celebrate diversity, courage, inclusion and the importance of being proud of who we are.
