Student Service Team Updates

We are here to remind you of the Student Services Team located in A26/A29.

We will disseminate very handy information, resources, tips and strategies through various school portals, so that students and families can access support as they require. There are many more exciting things to come, so keep a look out on Compass newsfeed, emails, DHS website and the socials.

Year 7

We welcomed a new group of Year 7s to the school and the Wellbeing Team introduced themselves and their role at the school. We delivered a wellbeing session, as part of the Year 7 introduction program that looked at emotions, strengths, body mapping and learned more about why wellbeing is important. We had a ball getting to know the Year 7s and chatting about very important topics!

Breakfast Club is back again this term and runs every Tuesday, Wednesday and we have now added on another day, so you’ll see us on Thursdays from 8am until 8.45am in Jacaranda.

What we love about Breakfast Club is students coming together and forming friendships. We also like to celebrate events and we had a very special Breakfast morning for an early Valentines Day!

Sporting Change

Sporting Change continues to run this term, for students to participate in a range of activities including basketball, soccer, volleyball and so many more. Students have the opportunity to play sports and learn about the law for FREE.  The program runs after school every Thursday from 3:30pm-5pm and snacks are provided.

For more information, queries or support for your young person, please can contact the school on 9792 0561 and you can speak to a member of the Wellbeing Team, or please visit the school website for more information.

Vic Kids Eat Well

Dandenong High School has been involved in the Vic Kids Eat Well initiative. Vic Kids Eat Well provides schools, outside hours school care, community organisations and sports clubs with clear, simple, and achievable steps to making healthy food and drink options available for young people.

DHS has incorporated cut up fresh fruit and canned fruit donated by Foodbank in their Breakfast Club menu every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

By adding this delicious and nutritious option to our Breakfast Club we have achieved our first Vic Kids Eat Well bite – ‘Colour breakfast with fruit!’

Congratulations to Dandenong High School! Well done on your commitment to providing healthier food and drink to young people in your community.

By completing a small bite in Vic Kids Eat Well, DHS was eligible to receive a $200 Kitchen Warehouse voucher. This voucher is from the health promotion team at Monash Health.

The Wellbeing Team and Health Promotion Nurse look forward to purchasing valuable kitchen equipment to support our growing Breakfast Club community!
