3XCUP - Secondary Qualifying Tournament
Recently, four students from Mr Green's Basketball Club were selected to represent the school at the 3XCUP secondary qualifying tournament. The students competed against strong private and sports academy schools. Despite being one of the less experienced teams, they proved they belonged, matching the intensity and skill of quality opposition and never looking out of place. The team finished with an impressive three wins from five games, narrowly missing out of finals.

Lunchtime Staff v Student Volleyball
The recent Staff vs Year 12 volleyball match certainly lived up to the hype, delivering a tight contest that kept everyone on edge. The staff got off to a strong start, taking an early lead with steady serves and smart play around the court.
The Year 12s weren’t going to let it slip away, though. They fought their way back with some seriously powerful spikes and great energy, levelling the score and turning the game into a point for point battle.
In the end, the staff’s teamwork and experience just managed to tip the balance. They edged out the Year 12s 28 to 27 in a thrilling finish. It was a great game and a fantastic display of effort and sportsmanship from both teams.

Debators Association of Victoria Debate #1
Last night was the first debate for our two debating teams, in Year 9 and Year 11. In the last two years, we have had one team each year competing - this year we have expanded to two. This means students this year have had to be more independent in their collaboration to write and prepare speeches. Our students were thorough and prepared. They knew the topics, and they knew when the other team was being too flexible with the facts. Despite this being their first ever debate, our second and third speakers dove skilfully into rebuttals which was inspiring to watch.
Our Year 11 team won and there were several remarks from the adjudicator as to the unusually high quality of the Year 9 debate. The most commendable thing about this debate was how hard our students worked on it, and that work will certainly pay off throughout the year.
