On Tuesday the 17th of February, the VPC students participated in a podcast writing incursion with Tripod. Students learnt about the different purposes and audiences for a podcast. They chose a topic of their own interest and wrote a script for an interview. Tripod taught them how to record themselves using the Audacity program. Students worked really hard and developed their communication skills and confidence. It was an enjoyable new experience for all.

On Thursday 12/2, we went to Holmesglen TAFE in Chadstone as part of the Year 10 Gateway program. The program is designed to open our eyes to different Pathways and Career Paths. Each Thursday this term, we will get to experience a number of different trades.
We split into two groups and we did Tiling, where we created a Chess board, and the other group learnt how to patch walls and master the art of Plastering. It was great to do something hands-on and spend time to do something we could be proud of.

The instructors also took us on a tour of all the different courses available, including Fashion Design, Furniture Design, and Plumbing to name a few. The place is massive and there were so many people learning their craft.
All were tired by the end, but so happy to have taken part. Can't wait till next week!!

On February 19th, we went to Holmesglen for our second visit as part of the Gateway program. We continued making our Chess boards and learnt how to grout, tile, and frame the boarders. It helped us learn about, design, structure and precision. We had to show resilience and patience as we had to be spot on with our placement. All of us were so proud of what we had achieved and our instructors, Cameron and Marko, were really impressed with our application listening and questioning.

This hands-on learning is so engaging and we cant wait for next week!
