VCE Ancient History

In VCE Ancient History, students study the development of civilisation in both Mesopotamia, which occupies parts of modern-day Iraq, Turkey, Iran, Syria and Kuwait, and Egypt.

Students study these how these civilisations worked including, how they are organised, their religion and writing systems. When learning about these ancient civilisations, one of the main sources we use, is the writing that they leave below in clay tablets and monuments inscribed with these ancient languages.

To students better understand sources from this time, they learnt how to write their own names and the names of gods and rulers in Mesopotamian cuneiform or Egyptian hieroglyphics.

Below are some examples.
