What is coming up in the next fortnight:
Literacy:
In Little Learners, we are looking at the morphology of the suffix -ing at the end of words. For example, playing, setting. We will learn the doubling rule for adding -ing. We are learning about the prefix -un which means not. For example, unhappy=not happy. Remember to log into to the Little Learners app to read these books at home. It really helps your child become fluent if they read the book many times. Keep practising heart word reading with your child to support fluency when reading a text.
Watch the reading at home video for more support.

In Writing, we will be beginning our unit on Ancient Egypt. We will begin by learning about where Egypt is located, the Nile River and why it is so important to Ancient Egyptians and Pharaohs and everyday people . Students will build rich knowledge through exploring images, videos and discussion with their peers and teachers.
Numeracy:
In Maths, we have started a unit about Addition and Subtraction. Students will learn to partition and combine numbers up to 10 as part part whole representations. They will build their capacity to subitise numbers (being able to recognise small quantities without counting) and use the bar model to add numbers. They will learn to represent practical situations of adding and subtracting using physical and virtual materials such as counters, tens frames and unifix.
On Fridays we are learning about data. Students are learning how to record data using tally marks. They will learn to collect and sort data in response to different questions using pictures, tally marks and symbols.
Wellbeing:
We have been looking at helpful vs unhelpful thoughts in challenging situations and naming the skills needed for teamwork and cooperation through games.
Inspire: Last week our 2026 Inspire sessions began on alternating Friday afternoons.
Here are some student reflections on their Inspire group:
-Dance-we have been copying some dance moves from a video.
-Nature Craft-we can design anything using nature. We made an easter egg with flowers and gum nut leaves.
-Lego-we worked in groups to make different things with lego. For example a Police station.
-Model Making-we made triaramas with insects and sea animals.
-Fun and games-we played a game of heads down thumbs up and guess the animal game.
-Craft making-we made a bunny for Easter.
