Literacy
We have been enjoying learning Stage 2 (Red Sounds) and creating words during our Super Spelling sessions, such as pat, sip, top, has, and bin. You can use your flashcards at home to help your child create and read short words using the letters we have learned so far. We have been writing sentences such as “I nap in the cot.” and “Tip the ham in the bin.” During this work, we have learned that a well-structured sentence includes finger spaces between words, a capital letter at the beginning, and a full stop at the end.
Our mentor text is Come Over To My House. The children have enjoyed meeting the different families in the story and exploring what it might be like if they played at their homes. Through the story, they have been learning about how families around the world live and the different ways people welcome others into their homes.
Here is a link to the story, ‘Come Over To My House’.

Mathematics
In Mathematics, we have been focusing on numbers up to 10. The children have:
- Counted forward and backward from 0 to 10
- Counted collections up to ten, emphasising careful counting
- Represented numbers on a tens frame
- Matched collections to their corresponding numerals
During our Applied Mathematics sessions, we have been learning the days of the week. The children explored weekdays and weekends, discussed which days come before and after, and enjoyed singing the song “Days of the Week.”

Wellbeing
In Wellbeing, we celebrated Harmony Day, a special day focusing on cultural diversity, inclusivity, and belonging, with the theme “Everyone belongs.” Students participated by creating a paper person for our whole-school display. They enjoyed decorating their figures and were proud to see their work showcased in the school.
Reminders
Satchels and Home Reading
Students have received their flashcards, Boomerang Book, and a decodable reader to support their reading at home. Please ensure your child’s satchel is returned to school each day. Your child must return their coloured decodable book before they can take another home.
There is a QR code inside your child’s Boomerang Book which allows you to access Little Learners Love Literacy books online for additional reading practice at home. Here is a link to assist with reading: Reading at Home
Here is a link to the Cued articulation to support our learning, however, please note that we are not currently teaching all of the sounds featured in this video.
Shoelaces
We have noticed there are many children who come to school with laces. If they can't tie their laces, it is recommended they have velcro shoes. Here is a video to assist with learning to tie laces.

Toileting Before School
Please remind your child to use the toilet before school so that their learning is not interrupted in the morning session.
Spare Clothes
Please ensure your child has a change of clothes, including socks, in their bag.
Buddies
The Prep and Grade 6 students enjoyed playing a game together on Thursday. They created monsters by rolling a dice and adding body parts based on the number they rolled. Together, they came up with some amazingly fantastic monsters! 👾🎲
Dojo Rewards
Congratulations to all students who have achieved their Bronze Award (75 points). Certificates have been presented in class, and students will select their reward in consultation with their teacher.
