Vinnies

Students undertaking the Certificate II in Community Services are gaining valuable real-world experience through their volunteer placements at Vinnies. For many students, this is their first opportunity to experience a workplace environment. Volunteering provides students with the chance to develop confidence, responsibility, independence, and practical employability skills in a supportive and welcoming setting.

Throughout their placements, students work alongside experienced Vinnies staff and dedicated volunteers, assisting with a variety of everyday tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the store. These experiences allow students to build essential workplace skills, including customer service, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and reliability.

Beyond developing practical skills, students gain a deeper understanding of how community organisations support people experiencing hardship while developing empathy, compassion, and an appreciation for the value of volunteering and community service.
