On Monday and Tuesday evening, more than 70 Year 7 students and 50 Year 8 students gathered in Oblate Hall for a special Time & Space evening with their mothers, fathers and mentors.

Time & Space is a highly regarded program delivered in schools across Australia and the United Kingdom. Through guided conversations and thoughtful reflection, it creates a safe and structured environment for parents and sons to connect more deeply and communicate meaningfully.

Feedback from both the boys and the adults was overwhelmingly positive. Many participants admitted the evening was far more enjoyable than they had expected. The boys valued hearing honest insights into how their fathers see them and their lives, while the adults appreciated the quality of the conversations and the respectful atmosphere.

One of the most powerful aspects of the evening was the opportunity for boys to see themselves through their parents’ eyes in a safe and guided setting. Several Year 12 students also stepped up admirably, putting their facilitation training into practice as they supported the sessions with maturity and care.

At the conclusion of the evenings, families were gently encouraged to maintain the momentum by revisiting the same meaningful questions in six months’ time and continuing to nurture these important conversations.

It is encouraging to see attendance at these Time & Space events growing each year. In the midst of busy lives, setting aside dedicated time and space to ask deeper questions and strengthen relationships remains one of the most valuable gifts we can offer our young men.
