Walking Together In Hope
As we enter Holy Week, we are invited to pause and walk once more with Jesus, from the welcome of Palm Sunday, through the deep love and service shown at the Last Supper, to the sorrow of the Cross and the joy of Easter morning.
For families at Mazenod College, Holy Week reminds us that God is present not only in moments of celebration, but also in times of struggle and uncertainty. Saint Eugène de Mazenod taught us to look to Jesus Christ crucified and risen, and to recognise His presence especially among those who are hurting or in need.
At home this week, we might take time to pray together, to speak kindly, to serve one another generously, and to notice where hope quietly breaks through in our daily lives.
May the journey of Holy Week renew our faith, strengthen our love as families, and prepare our hearts for the joy of the Resurrection. It is a joy we are called to share with others.
Feast Days
Over the last two weeks, Tempier, Albini, and Gavin Houses have celebrated their respective Patron Days, marking these important occasions with faith, fellowship, and strong House spirit.
Across the celebrations, students gathered for House Masses, providing time for prayer and reflection grounded in the Oblate tradition. These moments were followed by relaxed and joyful lunchtime gatherings in the Oblate Hall, where students enjoyed a sausage sizzle and games.
Patron Day celebrations are always lively occasions that bring together prayer, connection, community and fun. They offer students the opportunity to deepen their sense of belonging, strengthen relationships across year levels, and celebrate the unique identity of their House.
Sincere thanks are extended to the House Charism Coordinators Marie-Clare Overton (Tempier), David Balatonyi (Albini) and Angelo Vallis (Gavin) for their leadership and organisation, and to the senior students who generously cooked and served lunch for their fellow House members. Their service and enthusiasm contributed greatly to the success of these celebrations and highlighted the strong sense of community within each House.
Bunbury Bishop’s Student Forum
Mazenod College is proud to be a college for students and families across Western Australia. Recently, four of our boarders from the Diocese of Bunbury participated in a Student Leaders’ Forum with Bishop George Kolodziej SDS, alongside students from across the Diocese.
The forum provided an opportunity for students to contribute thoughtfully to discussions on areas such as Church life, homelessness and student wellbeing. Their involvement was valued by both the students and the Diocese, and reflects Mazenod College’s commitment to supporting and strengthening diocesan relationships.
Mazenod College enjoys positive connections with each of the four dioceses in Western Australia and deeply values the trust families place in us to care for their sons.
Project Compassion
As we enter the final week of Project Compassion, it is hard to believe how quickly Lent has passed. This important time in the Church’s year invites us once again to reflect on how we can live with compassion, generosity and solidarity with those most in need.
We warmly encourage our families to continue supporting Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, which helps communities around the world build lasting solutions to poverty and injustice. Families are invited to donate online using the links or QR code provided. Together, may we respond generously and continue to live Lent with open hearts and hope.
