Happy Book Week, everybody!

It was wonderful to see everybody’s incredible efforts with their Book Week costumes on Friday. From familiar favourites to wonderfully imaginative characters, there was so much creativity, joy and storytelling wandering around our school! It has been a delight to celebrate the wonder of books and stories together this week encouraging those small portals that can transport us to other worlds, introduce us to new friends and make us see our own world a little differently.

As part of our Book Week tradition at Essex Heights Primary School, we always purchase new books for our Library, helping to ensure that our collection continues to grow with wonderful stories, diverse voices, fascinating ideas and plenty of opportunities for children to find the book that becomes a favourite.

And this year, we have quite a collection!

Our new books are currently being catalogued into the library system, thanks to our wonderful Education Support Team. Now we need a little help from our very school community to give these new treasures their final bit of library magic: covering them in contact so they are durable enough to withstand many years of adventures, page-turning and enthusiastic readers.

We are looking for parent helpers, and any staff helpers too, who would be willing to take home a bag of books to cover over the next few weeks and into Term 4. There are picture books, information books and novels waiting to find their way onto our shelves, ready for their next readers.

If you are willing and able to take home a bag of books to cover, please email me with your name and your child’s name and class (Please send to renee.dare@education.vic.gov.au). I will start sending bags home in the coming weeks and into Term 4.

We really appreciate any help you can give us in getting these incredible series, stories and standalone books onto the shelves of our beautiful library

and into the hands of our readers.

Thank you for helping us keep a little more bookish magic alive at Essex Heights!

Kind regards

Renée Dare
