Literacy

This week in Literacy we have been learning about explanation texts and exploring how and why things happen. Students have been investigating how aeroplanes fly before beginning to write their own explanations. We have also continued building our knowledge of natural disasters, with a focus on volcanoes and the Ring of Fire, using informative texts to develop our understanding and vocabulary.

Numeracy 

In Mathematics we have been focusing on multiplication, with lots of practice using and recalling our times tables. Knowing multiplication facts quickly helps students with many other areas of maths, so any extra practice at home is greatly appreciated. We have also been exploring the Commonwealth and Olympic Games through a mathematical lens by collecting, analysing and interpreting data from a range of different sports.

Class Highlights

We had a fantastic time participating in Hoop Time last week. It was wonderful to see students encouraging one another, showing teamwork and having fun. 

Our Buddy Session was also a huge success, with everyone enjoying a game of dodgeball together and other fun activities.

Next week we will begin our swimming program.
