Level 6

We're a great mix in Level 6!

BRRR! What a cold start to Term 3 we have had! Despite the chilly weather outside, our classrooms have certainly been heating up with lots of exciting learning!

Reading

We have absolutely been LOVING our novel study of 'How to Bee' by Bren MacDibble! Students have been exploring the characters, setting, plot and themes within the novel while developing their comprehension skills. We are enjoying making predictions, sharing our ideas and digging deeper into the author’s choices.

Literacy

This term, we are diving into the world of narrative writing! Students are learning how to plan and create engaging stories by developing interesting characters, creating vivid settings and building exciting plots. We are focusing on using descriptive language, strong openings and carefully chosen details to hook our readers and keep them wanting to read more. It is also really important to think carefully about our word choice and choosing verbs that gives our reader a clearer picture of what is happening.

Numeracy

In Maths, we are becoming data detectives! Students are learning how to conduct statistical investigations, collect and organise data, and represent their findings in clear and meaningful ways. We are also developing our skills in analysing data and using evidence to draw conclusions.

Inquiry

Our Inquiry learning is taking us around the world! We are investigating how Australia is connected to other countries through trade, tourism, migration and culture.

We are also exploring how people live differently around the world. In Week 3 and 4, we looked into the United Nations - Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through comparing countries, students are developing their understanding of global connections, quality of life and the ways Australia connects to the rest of the world.
