Last Wednesday 29th July we celebrated 100 days of school! Students enjoyed dressing up as 100-year-olds and completed lots of fun activities related to the number 100.

Well done to all of our Foundation students, it is such an incredible milestone!

Your teachers couldn't be prouder of how far you’ve come and how much you have achieved in these 100 days.

Numeracy

Our focus for the last week has been learning about addition. Students are making connections to our previous learning of part-part-whole and are discovering and practicing new ways to combine numbers together. We enjoyed making pretend fairy bread, planting flowers and using number lines to model our addition thinking.

Literacy

In Literacy students have been studying a different mentor text each week. Last week was “Found in Melbourne” which linked nicely into our inquiry focus of making connections with places around me. Students have learnt to share their personal responses by completing a variety of learning activities. Phonics and reading lessons continue to support the consolidation of decoding and comprehension skills.

Foundation students have also progressed to using dotted third lines for their writing. We are focusing on making our letters the correct size to sit nicely within the correct part of the dotted thirds. It has been a little tricky and quite challenging for some, but the students have been so resilient with learning something new.
