Level 2

2YS Yasi Shayesteh, 2KH Sally Rochford, 2ES Elizabeth Seymour

Literacy

This term our students are focusing on non-fiction writing. To connect with our inquiry topic about Australian geography, they have researched topics such as koalas, Uluru, The Great Barrier Reef and capital cities. Using information reports, videos and powerpoint presentations, they have collected dot point notes that they can use to create their own information reports. This week, the students have worked in groups to create information posters about the Great Barrier Reef based on their research.

Inquiry

This term, the Level 2 students are learning all about Australian geography. In week 3, they used maps to locate each state and its capital city, they then used this information to create their own maps with the important locations correctly labelled, as well as colouring to show the different types of terrain in Australia. In week 4, we have been learning about famous landmarks in Australia, both natural and man-made, then identifying their features and comparing the similarities and differences between them.
