Hakea House

Hey everyone, Justin here. I’m proud of being a Year 10 SRC representative for Hakea. What I enjoy most about being SRC is the chance to represent students, share their ideas, and help make our school a more positive and connected community. 

It has been a busy and successful Term 2 with strong involvement across many areas of school life. There were a number of events for students to participate in. It was great to see students getting involved in different ways, whether through fundraising, supporting their Houses, or contributing to school activities. 

In Chorales, Hakea placed third with the song Yellow by Coldplay, and I’d like to give a big thank you to all the Hakeans who contributed to claiming third place! We have many seniors and juniors doing Chorales, showing the spirit of this House.

For fundraising, Hakea has been actively involved in a range of fun and engaging activities, including Choose the Bell Song, Tattoo the Teacher, and we look forward to hosting more fun fundraising events. 

As part of Learning Tutor, the Year 7s took part in the Amazing Race. The idea was for students to meet with as many staff and ask them questions; they also received Golden Tickets which doubled their points. The winners were Hania and Nazaneen who saw a total of 86 staff members, what an awesome effort! 

Hakea has also participated in World Cup themed activities by displaying jerseys from famous players, helping to build excitement and school spirit.

The Athletics Carnival is coming up in Term 3 and it’s set to be a fun and exciting day for everyone! It’s a great chance to represent your House, get involved in events, and show your school spirit.

As Term 2 draws to a close, I want to sincerely thank everyone for their effort, support, and involvement throughout the term. I hope you all take the time to rest, recharge, and enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday break. Wishing you lots of fun over the break, and I look forward to seeing everyone return ready for another positive and successful term ahead!
