Grevillea House

Hello everyone, this is Fayeqa, proudly Grevillea’s Year 10 SRC Representative. I’ve enjoyed working with other SRCs the most to come together, discuss problems and find solutions; lifting school spirit and making the school grounds a better environment. 

It has been a successful, wonderful term in Grevillea House, of fun fundraising activities and of course, Chorals. 

We sang “All these things that I’ve done” by The Killers! This song carries a powerful message about resilience, courage, hope and the strength to keep moving forward even when life becomes challenging. Although we didn’t place first in the competition, we were definitely the crowd’s favourite, first in their hearts! We will carry that pride till next year. 

Regardless of the stress of our exams, Grevillea, and every other House strived as we came together to celebrate Africa Day and show our pride in multiculturalism where students learned about and celebrated African beauty.

We also had the Careers Expo, which gave students the opportunity to explore future career pathways and learn about different industries. In addition, many of our intelligent, courageous students partook in Model UN which was hosted in our school, Dandenong High, with the help of Miss Z and Model UN President Elaha. 

It was a great opportunity for students to improve their communication and social skills, connecting with students from neighbouring schools. Dandenong High School, and especially Grevillea, showed immense hospitality and welcomed them with great enthusiasm. 

We hold pride in our fundraiser, selling cup noodles every Wednesday to raise money for children in Gaza. The children of Gaza have endured unimaginable hardship, conflict, displacement, fear and loss that no child should ever have to face. And yet even in the darkest circumstances, their resilience shines. Supporting them wasn’t just charity, it is a moral responsibility!  We’re doing this to support our charity Olive Kids - learn more about them here - https://olivekids.org.au/.
