Design & Technologies Week
Visual Art & Technology
Last week, students celebrated and participated in Design and Technologies Week; an opportunity for students to get ‘hands on’ and celebrate design education in Victorian schools. The following activities were run by our Visual Art & Tech techers at lunchtime on different days.
Monday ‘Hack club”
Students had the opportunity to learn coding languages and skills, as well as cyber security threats that pose risks to our online safety.
Tuesday in Textiles
Students ad the opportunity to create their own custom designed hat or t-shirt in the textiles room. They used a variety of materials to express their personalities on a piece of clothing they could keep.
Wednesday Bridge Building
Students participated in a bridge building challenge, testing design and engineering skills as they constructed a bridge out of every day materials like icy-pole sticks, rope, and sticky tape.
Thursday Photo Booth
Students (and teachers) struck a pose in our Photo Booth and demonstrated their art skills through creating chalk murals and designs outside the A Block (Art) classrooms.
Friday Fondant Cookies
To wrap up the week, students got hands-on in the Kitchen, designing and decorating their own custom biscuits using fondant. Students used a range of kitchen tools, including designs, stamps and cutters to create (and enjoy) their own designs.
It was great to see so many students getting involved in the activities. We could not have provided this opportunity to students without the amazing support of all the Visual Arts and Technology teachers, our Visual Art Captains, Mila and Zahara, and our STEM Captains Lauryn and Ritkriti.
A massive thank you to all teachers and students involved in supporting the program and the faculty.
