Year 7 Netball

On Wednesday 27 May, eighteen  Year 7 girls went to Knox Regional Netball Complex to compete in Interschool Sports.

Despite the rain and some tough matches, both of our teams played super well. Our White team only lost 1 game, to Rowville East, with Maya shooting an impressive 13 goal high in one of the games. Our Blue team had 2 losses, one to Rowville East and the other to our White team.

We had a battle of the twins when Harper and Alessia went head-to-head as centers when our two teams played each other. (Insert before photo of the twins). Both teams played very hard throughout the day and we very respectful. After each game they went and shook hands and made sure to thank the umpired who were drenched from the rain as well.

After a long cold day, the girls were very happy to head back to school. We were very proud of their efforts and determination throughout the day.

Year 8 Netball

Last Thursday, Year 8 girls had the opportunity to compete in our annual interschool sports Netball competition. With a fully packed bus, and four teams united to beat the local schools in our area, we headed off to Knox Regional Netball Centre and we dominated the courts!

The teams all represented our school with pride and demonstrated our school values and good sportsmanship with the other schools. My favourite moment as a teacher was watching the girls support each other; if a team wasn’t playing they made sure they were watching another Wantirna team (and made it their personal mission to cheer louder than the opposition).

Throughout the day, Year 10 students Chloe, Winnie, Soph and Addison took responsibility for the coaching of their respective teams and did an exceptional job at helping, supporting and encouraging all our Year 8s.

Team Captains, Belle, Harper, Rach and June also demonstrated strong leadership, providing support through warm up and half-time talks.

The girls 1s netball team had a great day today, everyone played exceptional. We won to Rowville west, Upwey, and Wantirna 2s. Due to all our wins we got to the grand final against Rowville east. Everyone fought so hard but unfortunately in the end we lost 8-23. Although we lost it still was such a great day with everyone having each other’s backs and supporting one another. ~ Isabelle

Today the girls 2s netball team competed in the inter school sports competition. We worked amazing as a team, cheering and supporting one another every game. Although all the hard effort we put in we sadly lost most of our games. It was still such an amazing and fun day leaving everyone feeling very proud. ~Harper

Today the 4’s played Boronia K-12, Rowville, Scoresby and Upwey Despite losing 3/4 games, we still had such a fun day!  We made it to finals and played Upwey. Even though we lost we played so well and had an amazing game! ~ June

Our netball team had such a great effort across all five games. Even though we only won 2 games and lost 3, everyone showed amazing teamwork, determination and encouragement throughout the day. Well done to the whole team for continuing to push through and support each other. Everyone stepped up, stayed positive and never gave up, which made us all proud to be part of the team. Thank you Addi for being such a supportive and wonderful coach for our team! ~ Rach

Thank you to Asha for umpiring, Jack for facilitating the competition and all the students for making this year’s Netball competition a successful one!
