Warrandyte High Kicks Off a Huge Year in Interschool Sport!
It has been an action-packed start to the year for our interschool sports teams, with senior, intermediate, Year 8, and divisional swimming competitions all taking place. Our students have shown incredible dedication, teamwork, and school spirit, delivering outstanding performances across multiple events.
Senior Interschool Sport
We extend our congratulations to the Senior Tennis and Volleyball teams for their commitment and efforts throughout the competition.
Tennis: The Year 11 boys' tennis teams faced formidable opponents but competed with determination, making the most of every match. During intervals, they continued refining their skills, engaging in singles matches with each other and students from other schools. Despite facing challenges, they maintained a positive attitude, displayed excellent sportsmanship, and represented Warrandyte High with distinction.
Volleyball: Our three boys' volleyball teams exhibited exceptional teamwork and perseverance on the court. While victory was elusive, their unwavering determination and mutual encouragement were truly commendable. The teams executed some incredible rallies, with players pushing themselves to keep the ball in play and making aggressive, strategic shots, making for an exciting and competitive day. Congratulations to all players for their efforts and dedication.
Intermediate Interschool Sport
Our Year 9 and 10 students showcased their abilities in Tennis and Volleyball at the Mullum Division competition, achieving impressive results.
Tennis: Competing against larger schools with extensive rosters, the Year 9/10 tennis team displayed resilience, securing victories in two of four matches and advancing to the finals, where they finished in fourth place. Special recognition is extended to Kimmie, who made a strong return from an ankle injury, and Damon for his exemplary leadership. Many players, new to competitive tennis, embraced the challenge and performed admirably throughout the event.
Volleyball: Four Year 9/10 volleyball teams participated in the competition, demonstrating high energy and competitive spirit. Their teamwork and technical proficiency improved progressively throughout the day. Notably, the Boys A team finished as runners-up after an intense grand final match which went down to the wire, showcasing their skill and determination.
Baseball: Being the only school with an intermediate baseball team this group of students will progress directly to regional finals at the start of term 2. We wish the Baseball team the best of luck in this competition.

Year 8 Interschool Sport – A Day of Competition and Sportsmanship
The recent Year 8 Interschool Sport competition saw Warrandyte High School students take to the courts and the volleyball courts with determination, skill, and team spirit. Competing against seven other schools, our students displayed outstanding sportsmanship and resilience across both Tennis and Volleyball competitions. Eighteen Year 8 students participated in a fantastic day of tennis at Heathmont Tennis Club. Throughout the day, our students demonstrated great improvement, teamwork, and respect for their opponents. Their dedication and training throughout the term paid off as they showcased their skills in a competitive yet supportive environment. A special congratulations to our A1 team, who secured 4th place overall—an incredible achievement!
Our three volleyball teams competed in the A division, bringing their best efforts to the court. Both the girls' team and one of the boys' teams finished 5th overall, winning two out of four pool games before claiming victory in their 5th vs 6th final.
One of our boys' teams dominated the pool rounds, going undefeated and advancing to the grand final. The final match was an intense and thrilling contest, with incredible rallies, strategic plays, and unwavering team support. With the game extending into a deciding third set, the Warrandyte team fought hard, keeping the score tied at 8-8 before narrowly missing out on the win at 8-10. It was an exceptional display of skill and determination!
