Teaching & Learning

It has been a busy term for collecting data from our year 7 and 9 students who have almost finished completing the 2025 NAPLAN tests. There are four adaptive NAPLAN tests which assess students in their skills on writing, reading, conventions of language and numeracy. We have been pleased to observe these students’ approach to testing. They were organised, calm and they completed them to the best of their abilities.

The year 7 students also completed the PAT (Progressive Achievement Test) Reading and Maths tests earlier in the term.

Currently, all teachers are collaborating in their professional learning teams within their teaching faculties and looking at the data of their students in their classes. The aim is to better understand the points of need of their students and be able to deliver lessons which will progress the learning of each student.

Warrandyte High School is participating in a new program, Virtual Tutoring Program, offered by the Education Department. It involves a small group of students who will receive intense tutoring in semester 1 from a qualified tutor. The tutor will make SMART goals with each of the students and focus on the students’ learning in Mathematics.

MYLNS (Middle Years Literacy and Numeracy Support) and TLI (Tutor Learning Initiative) continue again this year and teachers will work with several students in years 8, 9 and 10 both in and out of classrooms.

All students would have completed some CLTs (Common Learning Tasks) in all of their subjects and we encourage all parents to check the progress of their children in Compass. Our school provides continuous reporting by providing students and parents feedback on the tasks that have been set at school. Parents can do this by going into the school’s Compass Learning Tasks tab in their children’s dashboard. We appreciate the support parents give by encouraging their children to complete set homework tasks and submitting all common tasks by their due dates.

The semester 1 interim reports will be published in the first week of term 2. Parent-Student-Teacher conferences are also due to take place in week 2 of term
