Student Voice &

Positive Environment

One of the greatest strengths of our school community is the power of student voice and the growing sense of agency demonstrated by our young people. This term, we have seen students step forward with confidence, sharing ideas, leading initiatives, and shaping the experiences of those around them.

Congratulations to the following students who have been elected by their peers to represent their cohorts as members of the Student Representative Council (SRC):

Year 7: Michelle Ochi, Sofia Fernandez and Tondin Nguyen

Year 8: Natalia Mesiti and Emily Kenny

Year 9: Olivia Ochi, Maya Clarete and Monse Romero Canales

Year 10: Swati Veerappan, Terry Cai and Mishkat Jame

Year 11: Annabella Mesiti, Saamir Amie and Eva Bricknell

Year 12: Our school captains Raquel Grey and Pam Vichittavong, vice captains Tobias Hoy, Alex Ochi and Manning Bricknell, alongside Krisha Sharma and Long Nguyen

A highlight of this term has been the Ylead Maximising the Badge training, an inspiring program focused on helping students lead with purpose and impact. This involved all student leaders in the college from SRC, to House and class captains as well as our program and cultural leaders.

The training encouraged students to rethink leadership—not as a position of authority, but as an opportunity to serve others and create positive change. A key highlight was the focus on identity and values, where students reflected on who they are and how their strengths shape their leadership style. This reinforced the idea that authentic leadership looks different for everyone.

Students also gained practical strategies to strengthen their leadership, including effective communication, teamwork, and turning ideas into action. These skills were explored through engaging activities and discussions, making the learning both meaningful and memorable.

The most powerful takeaway was simple: leadership is a choice. Wearing the badge is just the beginning—what matters most is how students use their voice each day to make a difference.

We look forward to seeing our student leaders maximise their badge, leading with confidence, kindness, and a strong sense of purpose within our school community.
