Year 10, 11 & 12

Assistant Principal's Report
A positive start to the year in the Senior School, with students already creating great memories and embracing the many opportunities available to them.
Our Swimming Carnival earlier this term was a fantastic day of participation, house spirit and friendly competition. Thank you to the many students who got involved and represented their houses with enthusiasm. A highlight for me was the Year 12 student Vs teachers' relays. Our Athletics Carnival is this week, and we look forward to another great day of activity and house pride.
We would also like to congratulate the many students who have represented the school in sport so far this term. In particular, a special congratulations to our Senior Girls Volleyball Team and Intermediate Girls Volleyball Team, who both won their divisions and will now progress to the Western Metro Finals. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work and commitment of the players.
Our recent Years 10–12 Assembly was a positive and purposeful start to the term. It provided an opportunity to welcome students back, reconnect as a senior school, and set expectations for learning, attendance and behaviour in 2026. We were also privileged to hear from our 2025 Dux Zac, Finocchiaro, who shared valuable insights and reflections on his senior school journey, inspiring students to remain focused, organised and committed to achieving their personal best.
Earlier this term we held our VCE and VCE/VM Parent Information Night, which was very well attended and thank you to those of you who also joined us online. These sessions are an important way for families to better understand the expectations and pathways within the senior school.
Congratulations also to our Year 12 Student Leaders who organised the Valentine’s Day stalls. The stalls were a great success and added a fun and positive atmosphere to the school community.
During the term we also completed a whole-school fire drill, which is an important part of ensuring our students and staff understand emergency procedures and can respond safely if required. Thank you to students for their cooperation throughout the process.
Students who have applied for Special Provisions at Year 12 have been working with staff to ensure the appropriate documentation and processes are in place to support their learning and assessment requirements throughout the year.
Looking ahead, Term One reports will be released shortly. These reports provide important feedback on student learning, progress and areas for improvement. We encourage families to take the time to review the report with their child and discuss goals for the next term.
In week one next term we will also be holding our Parent–Student-Teacher Conferences. These meetings are a valuable opportunity for students, parents and teachers to work together to support student learning. Conversations at these conferences can help identify strengths, address any concerns and ensure students are well supported as they continue through their senior studies.
In addition, the Senior School team will continue conducting "At Risk" Interviews with students who may require additional support to ensure they remain on track with their learning and VCE/ VCE/VM progression. These meetings allow us to work collaboratively with students and families to put appropriate supports in place.
Student Achievement – Archie Showler
Congratulations to Archie on an outstanding sporting achievement. Archie recently competed in a Taekwondo tournament where he successfully qualified to be part of the Australian Team that will compete at the Oceania Taekwondo Championships, run by the World Taekwondo.
This is a fantastic accomplishment and a reflection of Archie’s dedication, discipline and hard work in his sport. We wish him the very best as he competes on the international stage and proudly represents Australia.
Well done, Archie! 🥋
I would also like to congratulate Krista on her fantastic achievements in karate! 🥋
She is currently vying for a place on the Karate Australia National Team and will compete at the World Karate Federation Youth League in Manila this May to earn world ranking points.
We wish Krista the very best as she competes on the international stage! 🌏👏
Thank you to our students and families for the strong start to the year. We look forward to continuing to support our senior students as they work towards their goals in the months ahead.

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 10
As we come to the end of the first term, it is a good chance to celebrate all that has happened and look forward to what is to come.
The vast majority of the students have settled into year 10 excellently and I have no doubt that their hard work and effort will be reflected in their reports. There is a step-up in expectations for the work they complete in class and at home, and it has been positive to see how many have risen to that challenge. Maintaining those high expectations for themselves will give them the best chance of being successful in accessing the courses they want to pursue in year 11 and 12.
It has also been great to see how many students have already been able to organise their work experience placement. This is a great opportunity and it is expected that all students will participate. Work experience takes place from the 22nd – 26th June and students must get their completed forms back to me as soon as possible.
In pastoral time students have been looking at work experience and completing the safe@work modules. It is critical that students complete those modules and get the two certificates. There are many work experience opportunities posted onto Teams that all students have access to. There will be further information about both work experience and courses next year, at our year 10 information night on the 30 April.
SRC representatives house captains and class captains have been elected and a big congratulations to all students who have achieved a leadership position. Those students undertook their first day of training recently and we look forward to seeing how these students lead our school over the course of the academic year.
With the athletics carnival just around the corner, the house captains will play a key role in supporting that day. The carnival is a great opportunity to celebrate the many outstanding athletes we have at the school, and we hope to see as many year 10s participate as possible.
As part of the transition to senior school, students now complete SACs rather than CATs and just a reminder that if any student misses a SAC, they must have a medical note in order to reschedule that SAC, which is the process that must be followed in year 11 and 12.
I hope all students get to enjoy a fantastic break and come back term 2 energised!

Year Level Leader's Report - Year 11
The Year 11 students have settled well into their first year of the VCE journey and are beginning to understand the high expectations required to successfully complete Year 11. Through our pastoral care and study sessions, students have been encouraged to set clear goals and develop a growth mindset towards their learning.
To further support students, we have a dedicated team of tutors and Student Services staff available to assist with any wellbeing concerns or if students feel overwhelmed by their workload or other matters. Please reach out to your child’s tutor teacher, Student Services, or myself if you have any concerns, so we can put appropriate strategies in place to support your child.
Students recently self-nominated and voted for a range of leadership roles, including Year 11 Student Representative Council members and Class Captains. We acknowledge and commend our students for their willingness to take on these responsibilities and trust they will act as positive role models for their peers. Below are the Student Representative Council Members and Class Captains for 2025. We also extend our appreciation to all students who nominated themselves for a leadership position this year.

On Thursday 23 April, Parent–Teacher–Student conferences will be held at the College. The Year 11 team strongly encourages all parents and guardians to book appointments with tutors and subject teachers.
These conferences provide a valuable opportunity for teachers, students, and parents/carers to connect, share insights, and gain a deeper understanding of the student’s social, emotional, and academic progress, helping to support their future development.
Bookings can be made by parents and carers through Compass.
As we move into the colder months, we ask parents and carers to ensure students are wearing the correct winter uniform. Please note that hoodies and non-school jumpers are not part of the College’s uniform. A new College puffer jacket is now available for purchase as part of the approved winter uniform. If you require any assistance with obtaining winter uniform items, please contact Student Services.
Well done to the Year 11's, you have made it through your first Term as VCE and VCE/VM students! Enjoy your well-deserved break.

Skyline Access
The College has purchased a subscription to Skyline resources to enhance students' learning, engagement, and motivation. Through this platform, students can access:
Resources for 9 subjects: Psychology, Biology, Specialist Mathematics, Health and Human Development, Physics, English/EAL, Chemistry, General Mathematics, and Mathematical Methods.
VCE study skills, including time management and motivation strategies.
Online webinars covering topics such as SAC success and exam revision techniques.
VCE and VCE/VM Minimum Requirements and School Expectations
To be awarded a VCE certificate, students must successfully complete a minimum of 16 units, including 3 units from the Literacy/English units, which must include a Unit 3 and 4 sequence, and at least 3 other sequences of Unit 3 and 4 studies.
Students are expected to attend school every day, except in cases of illness. It is important to plan holidays during term breaks to minimize disruption to learning. A high level of attendance is essential for teachers to authenticate students' work. A recommended attendance rate of 95% is expected.
As VCE students, it is expected that they dedicate an average of 3 hours per night to study in order to successfully complete their VCE. This study time can be reduced if students use class time effectively.
If a student receives a Notice of Concern or Failed Outcomes, or a Report indicating an N (Not Satisfactory) grade, it is important to engage in discussions with your child, the subject teacher, and tutor teachers to develop strategies that will support the student in achieving an S (Satisfactory) grade.
School-Assessed Coursework (SACs) and Absences
Students may be permitted to reschedule an assessment task if they are absent due to medical reasons or a school-approved activity. A medical certificate will be required to receive a score for the assessment.
- Students who are absent for non-approved reasons may be given the opportunity to submit redemption work in consultation with the subject teacher. However, they will not receive a score, only an S (Satisfactory) or N (Not Satisfactory) grade.
Term 1 Report and Parent-Student-Teacher Conference
Parents and carers are encouraged to review the Term 1 reports, which will be distributed to students and made available via Compass. Students will receive their Term 1 reports in Week 10, providing an opportunity to reflect on their performance and set goals for the upcoming term. These reports include details on subject performance, assessment outcomes, attendance records, overall achievements, and homework completion. Parents and carers are asked to schedule a meeting with tutor teachers and relevant subject teachers to discuss student progress and explore ways to support their child in their final year of VCE studies.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s tutor teacher or myself.
