Learning Resource Centre News

Learning Resource Centre
“ The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the Library.’ Albert Einstein
2026 is shaping up to be a very busy year for the Learning Resource Centre (Library). Our students have hit the road running with their reading and I am so happy to say that our borrowing rates are more than double compared with the same time in 2025 !! What a great start to the year. We know that reading improves literacy and general knowledge but reading also:
- Reduces stress
- Makes us feel less lonely
- Reduces the risks of depression
- Helps us get a better night’s sleep
- Helps us understand difficult situations

Student Voice and Student Choice
We are continually adding to our collection of books. We collaborate closely with specialist book suppliers and bookstores to ensure that we have an up to date and varied collection to meet the needs of all of students. We especially like to add books suggested by our students.

Library Monitors
I am pleased to introduce you to this year’s Library Monitors: Dakodah 7A, Khushneet 7B, Fatiha 7B, Ishatjot 7B, Angelic 7B, Shasmeen 7G and Liam 10S.
Our monitors volunteer their time each week to assist with shelving resources, working on the circulation desk, and keeping the space well presented. Throughout the year our monitors will help with book displays, library competitions, and Book Week activities.
Study pod
This year we are supporting our VCE students with the addition of their own room to study and collaborate with their peers. We call this room the STUDY POD. This has been appreciated by our students, with the POD being booked every break since the start of the year. We have set up the room with a whiteboard for collaboration, study designs for all VCE subjects, revision books, and stationary.
Screen Free Time
Many of our students are keen to take time away from their screens and try new activities. Our jigsaw puzzles have proven to be a big hit with students from years 7 to 12 (and teachers 😊) and our year 7 students have used their creativity to colour and make bookmarks. Other screen free activities on offer include dominoes and mindfulness colouring.
