Grade 2 News

It has been another wonderful and busy week of learning in Grade 2, with students continuing to show enthusiasm, creativity and persistence across all learning areas. We are very proud of the effort students are putting into their learning and the positive way they are supporting one another in the classroom.
In Literacy, students have been working hard on developing their narrative writing skills through our study of the storybook The Stone Lion. Students have been exploring the features of narratives, including characters, settings and problem-solving within stories. They have enjoyed using descriptive language and creative ideas to plan and publish their own narratives inspired by the text. It has been wonderful to see students building confidence in sharing their ideas and extending their writing skills.
In Mathematics, we will be focusing on addition and subtraction strategies. Through hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks, students will continue practising efficient ways to solve number problems and explain their mathematical thinking.
In Religion, we are continuing our unit on Pentecost and exploring the importance of the Holy Spirit within the Christian faith. Students will reflect on how the disciples shared Jesus’ message with others and discuss ways they can demonstrate kindness, courage and respect within our school community.
In Humanities, students have been exploring how places can be represented in different ways. They have been investigating maps, symbols and features of places while developing their understanding of local, state and national locations. Students have enjoyed identifying important places and discussing why places are special to different people and communities.
Thank you for your continued support with your child’s learning at home. We look forward to another exciting week of learning ahead.
