Visual Arts

The Foundation students have looked at the text, 'Go Home, Cheeky Animals!' and have created a bird's eye view of a town and followed steps to create an origami dog face.
We celebrated Mother's Day by creating some beautiful drawings of the students with their mums.
Grade 2 created some 'Tulips and Sprinkles' artworks last week for Mother's Day. Students were shown how to draw a tulip shape using the capital letters U and W. They drew these shapes on a variety of painted and coloured papers before collaging them onto a sprayed card background.
Grade 3 have spent a few weeks viewing and responding to the artworks of Anna Blatman. Here we have looked at Anna's use of line as well as beginning to add some collage elements; in this case, a house.
Grade 4 have begun working on a painted piece inspired by the work of Indigenous Australian artist Hayley Pearson. Pearson's work 'Into the Wild' was the starting point. Students used three colours, thick paint and used the principle of repetition for the first layer of their work.
Grade 5 have spent several weeks working on a print inspired by the famous 'Starry Night' by Vincent van Gogh. Students used gelli plates to take layered prints, including a stencil, then worked back into this base with oil pastel. Some sequins and gold paint complete the starry night sky.
Grade 6 firstly explored how to use water colour paints to create this dreamy underwater background. We then used the element of shape and the principles of repetition and movement to practice drawing coral type items. Coloured paint pens were used to transfer favourite drawings onto the watercolour background. Silver pen was also incorporated in response to the cover of the book 'Phosphorescence'. Stunning!
