We have been active in maths this fortnight, using classroom rulers, meter rulers, measuring tapes and trundle wheels to accurately measure the world around us, down to the millimetre. This is a great life skill that can be practiced at home. We also strongly encourage our families to continuously practice time telling and financial maths with their children with real world experiences.

We are drawing to the end of our text study of Yirra and Her Deadly Dog Demon, students have been learning about the origins and cultural significance of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, this has evoked rich discussion in the classrooms around historical perspectives and continuity and change in our nation.

We are putting a call out to all families!!

We have had a sharp decline this term with reading diaries being bought to school, in all three classes we are seeing less than 20% being returned on a weekly basis. The students are capable of recording the book title and pages, asking parents to sign it a couple of times a week. All three classes have large collections of books for students to access and take home. With your help we know we will see an increase across the year level with nights of reading.
