Sixth Week of Easter

Loving God, In this joyful Easter season,

We thank you for the gift of Jesus, who shows us how to love and care for one another. As we remember his promise to send the Holy Spirit, help us to listen with open hearts and to live as people of peace, kindness and hope. Guide our words and actions each day, so that our school community may always be a place of welcome, compassion and joy.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Dear Parents,

We thank all mothers and those who attended our Mother's Day breakfast and prayer service on Friday. It was a beautiful morning, and many expressions of love were shared.

Courteous to our neighbors

This week we received a phone request from an elderly neighbor in Hulme Drive. Her problem is when families begin lining up in Skehan avenue from before 3.00pm for after school pick up, it blocks the roadway for local residents and prohibits them from returning home or leaving their home. Our bell does not ring until 3.20pm which means that traffic is stationary in Skehan Avenue for approximately 20 minutes to half an hour in some cases. It also means that our neighbors cannot access their homes. This must be very frustrating for them. Let's make an effort to be more thoughtful and considerate of our neighbors and not bank up in Skehan Avenue. If vehicles start arriving at 3.20pm when the bell rings then children can actually get in their family cars, those cars move off and make room for the next vehicles which is how the driveway is meant to work. Waiting in a queue from 3.00pm does not help with picking your child up earlier, it really only achieves frustrating our neighbors.

Feast of the Sacred Heart

Every year in June St. Vinnies asks us for support for their Winter Appeal with donations of new blankets. This is advance promotion of this appeal. We ask families to consider donating new blankets to the appeal or participating in some of the fundraisers that our Social Justice Student Leaders will hold in order for us to purchase new blankets, beanies or socks for the Winter Appeal. This is a great opportunity for our children to show compassion for those in the Wangaratta area who are experiencing cold this winter.
