Visual Arts News

Kia Ora families 🙂
Our Art Rooms are already buzzing with creativity! Throughout the year, students will develop their skills, explore new techniques, and build confidence in expressing their unique ideas. We can’t wait to share their colourful creations and artistic achievements with you.
Here’s what we have been working on so far…
Grade Prep
Our Prep students are off to a wonderful start in Visual Arts. They’ve been learning art room routines, practicing safe use of materials, and exploring how to reflect our school values in their work. Their first guided drawing activity showcased their growing skills and enthusiasm.
Grade 1 & 2
Our Grade 1 and 2 students have been investigating line and colour through their vibrant jellyfish and lava lamp artworks. This project has provided an opportunity for them to explore their creativity while strengthening their understanding of these important art elements.
Grade 3 & 4
Our Grade 3 and 4 students have been learning about the cultural art of henna. They explored its history, significance, and traditional patterns, while creating their own intricate designs inspired by this beautiful art form.
Grade 5 & 6
Grade 5 and 6 students have been refining their observational drawing techniques, investigating value, tone, tints and shades to create realistic forms. By working in both black and white and colour, they have learned how to use shadows and highlights to add depth and dimension to their artworks.
Harmony Day 2026
On March 20th, 2026, Tarneit Rise will celebrate Harmony Day. A special day that recognises the many cultures, backgrounds, and traditions that make our school community so vibrant. Harmony Day teaches students that everyone belongs and deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to dress up in their cultural attire and celebrate what makes each of us unique!
