Preps

The Preps have gotten straight to work in PE focusing on their fundamental movement skills. They have been working on their running technique focusing on bending their knees and lifting their feet. They have also used their running technique to play some tag games.

Grade 1s and 2s

Grade 1s and 2s have been focusing on their running technique and their awareness of their surroundings. They have been playing tag games ensuring that they were finding space to run into as well as accelerating away from taggers. The students have also been working on their overhand throw focusing on proper technique as well as their high catches.

Grade 3s and 4s

Grade 3s have been focusing on their striking skills. They have been making sure that they are hitting the ball into space and our beginning to look for gaps in the field. They have focused on hitting the ball with the middle part of the bat by keeping theuir eyes on the ball.

Grade 4s have refined their skills and striking and have started focusing on how they can restrict scoring. This week the grade 4s have learnt about tag outs, forced runs and unforced runs. A forced run is when a striker has to run due to another player running to that base. Unforced is when the base that the striker leaves remains free and they can run back to that base.

Grades 5s and 6s

Grade 5s have been focusing on identifying when it is safe to run as well as how they can maximise their scoring opportunities. They have focused on looking for gaps in the field and how they can restrict scoring when they are bowling.

Grade 6s have practiced their pitching to be able to restrict scoring when they are on the fielding team. They have also been practicing whether or not they should swing at or leave a pitch when they are on the striking team.

Team of the Week

Team of the week is a starting 11 of students who have shown the school values in all areas of PE. They may not always be the most talented but they have the best attitudes and eagerness to learn when it comes to PE.
